My Business Process

A business process that I have recently participated in was by purchasing a chicken sub from Subway and I playing the role of a customer. In order for Subway to meet my demand they had to manage their business process by having a data base which keeps track of what the customers have ordered and what the business needs to purchase to refill their stock, then the supplier receives the purchase order and supplies Subway with the items needed to replenish. The four components of business process would be activities, resources, facilities and information. In Subway’s case the payment activity of ordering resources would transform quantity received and shipping invoice information into a supplier payment. Subway’s goods being received from the truck would be considered resource along with any other items of value. Facilities would be subways inventory, database and file cabinets. Information is knowledge derived from data, so a subway employee’s hourly wage might show that they earn $12.00 per hour. The $12.00 per hour is data, but the statement that the average hourly wage of all employees in Subway is $12.00 per hour is information.
